Looks like we are promoting WR Treylon Burks to the active roster. Not sure whose spot he is taking, Lattimore's or McCaffrey's or Jayden's. Or maybe we are trading someone in the next 17 minutes. I hope so!

No outbound or inbound trades done. Both Latt and Luke to IR though.

They are going to get pummeled this week. I just hope CRod gets the ball more-he should be the starter, imo.
Is Noah I going to play now that Lattimore is gone. It feels like we haven't seen him all year.

^^Yeah if Noah is still out then it rises a lot of questions. The whole secondary could be new if Amos misses any time, maybe not a bad thing.

Funny thing about the betting line is that it is only affected by people that don't care who wins or loses - shortly after the injury to Daniels Lions were favored by 9.5 - with nothing good coming out of DC the line has Lions by 8 - 1.5 points is a big shift

Re: Week 10 - Lions @ Redskins at 4:25pm
They activated WR Robbie Chosen from the practice squad for the game. I would much rather see someone like WR Jacory Brooks get an opportunity, but I guess the front office hasn’t given up yet on making the playoffs this year. Maybe that’s why they didn’t trade anybody at the deadline. I guess Stranger Things happened, but it just doesn’t look like we should still be playing our veterans who are not gonna be part of the team next year and chosen is definitely in that category. He may not even be on the team in two weeks!

I see that they made Chris Rodriguez the offensive captain this week. Hopefully that means they’re actually gonna give him the ball and let him run. He should get 20 carries this week assuming we don’t fall behind by double digits in the first quarter.

I'm sure they are doing the best they can with who they have - I doubt that anyone thinks we have a chance at the playoffs

I'd love it if they fed him all game long.

It doesnt appear as though we are going to be able to stop the lions from scoring wbery time they get the ball. No surprise.

I realize we have some needs on offence, but holy crap this defence is terrible! They need help on every level. Improving the offence won’t help much if they can’t get on the field.

Re: Week 10 - Lions @ Redskins at 4:25pm
Offensive success comes when you can run the ball - Defensively you have to be able to stop the run
at this time, we cannot do either
when you're building a team the first thing you need is QB then you build an offense around him - next step is to build an offensive line that can protect the QB and be able run the ball - On Defense you have to be able to stop the run and put pressure on the QB
We have a QB, now we need to build around him - since the new guys came in we have been trying to overcome the lack of young talent and very little draft stock and no way to add to it

I think this defense is worse than any of Haslett's defenses, or that Berry guy's defenses, or Jack del Rios'. This has got to be as bad as it gets.

The defense is the problem. What we're seeing out there makes it impossible for the offense to keep up, especially with a backup QB and some random WR's. It's like playing soccer without a goalie, you are allowing the other team to essentially play with a lead right from the start and are constantly playing catch-up which alters the offensive gameplan entirely. They have no answers, aren't tackling well, cannot get pressure and generate no turnovers and this is two weeks in a row that the opposing offense has looked nearly perfect as a result. Firing Whit now won't change anything but I can't see how he sticks around for next year.
I did a quick lookup and this D has been largely crap for the last ten years.
Year Rank
15 28th
16 28th
17 21st
18 17th
19 27th
20 2nd (somehow)
21 22nd
22 3rd
23 32nd (and we're back!)
24 13th
25 only Dallas and Cincy seem to be keeping them from being the worst.
It's been forever since this team consistently made things hard for the other team. I watched a little bit of the LA/Pitt game last night and it almost surprising when a WR made a catch, whereas every drop back against Washington it's a surprise if they don't make a pretty wide open 9+ yard gain.
They are screwed by the injuries but even healthy they are at best a low 20's ranked D. There is currently no margin for error for this team because it leads to a significant advantage for the other team. I wasn't expecting it to be great but this is shockingly bad and it'll be tough to make all of the improvements necessary this off-season, but it has to be a focus.

Re: Week 10 - Lions @ Redskins at 4:25pm
The sad thing is the Joe Whitt Jr. is that he was the secondary/defensive passing game coordinator in Quinn's defense in Dallas. That seems to be our biggest issue in DC. We need a really defensive coordinator with a a creative mind and a proven track record.

I agree - it seems like each week our opponents just game plan for what works against our defense
We may see a change at DC before season's end - I really doubt Whitt is here next season

Quinn is going to be calling the D next week, which typically signals that the DC is on his way out.
